NYO Inspire Day is your chance to take your playing to the next level and get that breakthrough orchestral experience.
Spend an immersive day in workshops and rehearsals, focused on peer learning and sharing with NYO musicians. Through this open exchange, you’ll develop your ensemble playing skills and explore ways of listening, while experiencing the joys of orchestral music-making in a friendly and creative environment. You’ll then showcase what you’ve learned in a performance for family and friends.
NYO Inspire Days take place across the country for teenagers playing at Grade 6-8 and participation is free.
This year’s projects include ‘Tuning into Change Orchestra’ at the Barbican, offering dedicated young musicians the chance to perform under Gustavo Dudamel – one of the world’s leading conductors and education activists – in an iconic London venue.
How to Apply
We’re now recruiting musicians to take part in NYO Inspire activity throughout 2020 and applications will close on Monday 28 October at 9am.
To apply, click here.
If you would like to take part in the NYO Inspire Day activity with Gustavo Dudamel in November 2019, you must submit your application before Monday 30 September at 11.59pm to be considered.
NYO Inspire provides orchestral opportunities to musicians who are underrepresented in the sector, which is why applications are only open to Black and minority ethnic (BME) musicians or musicians who are state educated or home-schooled.
Please note that there are limited places available, and it is not guaranteed that you will have a place on the programme, but we make every effort to include as many musicians as possible. You will be considered for all NYO Inspire projects that you’re available for and be contacted by December 2019. If you have any questions, contact the NYO Inspire Team on email@example.com.
