Boundaries? What boundaries! Join us for a riotous performance with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, where hundreds of musicians radiate beyond the concert platform to champion music that matters to them right now.
Taking inspiration from Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring which shocked audiences with its urgent drama and radical rhythms, NYO’s teenagers are preparing to push boundaries and team up with composers who are celebrating difference and diversity right now.
Dinuk Wijeratne’s spectacular Tabla Concerto is a pioneering work of musical fusion. Together with the charismatic soloist Sandeep Das the orchestra will draw you into an evocative world where cultures have no barriers. Téenek by Gabriela Ortiz is a provocative reminder of our mutual belonging to the world and each other, in music fizzing with elements of classical, folk and jazz.
Come and join NYO’s irrepressible teenagers for a performance bursting with spirit and energy.

In 2022 and beyond, NYO is on a mission to work alongside teenage musicians to open up orchestral music and share it with young people across the UK. Expect playing in the aisles, riotous music from a range of genre-bending composers young and old, and an inclusive, celebratory atmosphere designed to make everyone feel welcome, whether you’re a newcomer or a seasoned concert-goer.
In the winter, we celebrate the opportunity to open up to concert hall audiences with two orchestras, and conductors Sian Edwards and Andrew Gourlay, playing music from this repertoire that embodies freedom and release, connecting with dance genres.
