Give a state school musician a fairer chance to shine at NYO auditions
A 30-minute session with an NYO tutor could make all the difference
Auditions for The National Youth Orchestra of 2026 are coming up over the summer holidays, and young people across the country will be practising hard for a seat. But many state school musicians havenโt had the opportunity to play orchestral music at a higher level because their school might not have an orchestra or offer music lessons. They might feel that this will put them at a disadvantage on auditions day.ย
You can play your part in giving a state school musician the chance to unlock their full potential at their NYO audition.ย
For ยฃ30, you could give a teenager a free, transformative 30-minute session with an NYO tutor that will give them the confidence they need to shine on auditions day.ย
A one-on-one session could give them the personalised coaching that they need to show what theyโre truly capable of. They will get tips on technique and discover how to take their playing to the next level. They will gain confidence in their skills. And they will feel the encouragement that they need from a tutor who really wants them to get into the Orchestra.
