Michael’s musical adventure started in primary school when he was introduced to the trumpet. He took to it straight away and decided to have lessons.
He’s passionate about brass and says
Jazz trumpeters like Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis and Wynton Marsalis have really inspired me to play higher and with more confidence. I also love the sound of trumpets and brass in orchestral works as I think it is such an incredible sound
Michael loves being part of a musical community. He volunteers at the Brentwood Cathedral with music making during Sunday services, having fun playing a wide range of music. He also plays in bands, orchestras and in the big band at Junior Guildhall.
Michael says:
I enjoy being part of NYO because I love to be part of the huge community of musicians and have the opportunity to play incredible pieces and perform many concerts across the country. NYO brings out my best self and allows me to become a better trumpet player and collaborator.
