NYO Alive celebrates the defiant music written against the backdrop of global war in the 1940s. Copland’s uplifting Symphony No. 3 is a powerful expression of confidence and hope, acclaimed as “the greatest American symphony – it goes from the heart to the heart”. Hindemith’s dazzling Metamorphosis looks forward to a new era of energy and possibility. Vivacious soprano Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha joins the orchestra for Four Last Songs, Strauss’ bewitching and achingly nostalgic farewell note to a vanished world.

Join us to experience the talent of hundreds of teenage musicians, as they breathe new life into orchestral music and remind us of the power and beauty of being truly alive.
