NYO is the UK’s leading organisation dedicated to using orchestral music as a catalyst for teenage development. We reach thousands of teenagers every year, empowering them to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and make a positive impact on other young people.

We have a diversified funding base, a successful fundraising programme, and a clear vision for expanding our impact over the next decade. NYO has used substantial legacies over the past decade to drive transformation, enhance our programme offerings and broaden our beneficiary base, which has, in turn, strengthened our fundraising proposition.
The Role

As Chair of the Finance Committee, you will have a pivotal role in guiding NYO’s financial strategy and ensuring the charity’s continued success. Your responsibilities will include:

- Strategic oversight of finances and resourcing: Provide high-level guidance on financial and resource planning to ensure both short-term stability and long-term growth in alignment with NYO’s mission and goals.
- Risk management: Lead the oversight of both financial and non-financial risks, ensuring that robust processes are in place to manage these risks effectively.
- Governance and compliance: Ensure NYO adheres to the highest standards of financial governance, including compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Collaborative leadership: Keep the wider Board informed of financial matters at an appropriate level of detail to guide effective decision-making, while contributing to the charity’s overall governance and strategic direction.
About You
We are looking for a qualified Accountant (or equivalent) with significant experience in strategic financial management including experience of the charity sector. You will bring strong analytical skills, a collaborative mindset, a balanced approach to risk, and a passion for NYO’s mission to empower young people through music.
