NYO are known for our Orchestra. But we also reach thousands of musical teenagers across the country every year, with free activities, free projects and even free residencies for young musicians to access orchestral music with hundreds of others.

It brings so much happiness to everybody in that community. For people that might not be able to get that opportunity financially, it is so important. In the music world you often think 'Oh I can’t do this to a high level because I can’t afford it, I’m not good enough.' But when you’re there you’re like 'Oh wait, this is possible'.”

The experience of playing and sharing music together develops their confidence, their self-belief – they discover what they are truly capable of, and they take that with them into their lives outside of NYO.
