9 music-filled days, 130 Inspire Musicians, 72 NYO Musicians, 21 music hubs, services, organisations, and 14 pieces from Purcell to Rimsky-Korsakov.
It’s the very first NYO Inspire Ensemble, launching this Saturday at the University of Liverpool! From the 14th to 22nd of February, NYO Musicians and Inspire Musicians from all corners of the UK will team up for some epic orchestral music-making. There’ll be 130 dedicated and passionate teenage musicians from 21 music hubs across the country joining us as special Inspire Musicians.
They’ll participate in 3-day residencies divided into orchestral sections - strings, wind, brass and percussion. Through rehearsals and tuttis, they’ll explore orchestral repertoire and take their ensemble playing to the next level. At the heart of it all are unique peer-learning sessions. In these sessions, NYO Musicians will take the lead in coaching Inspire Musicians, while being guided by our amazing NYO Tutors. Residencies will be packed with a wide range of musical and social activities, from intense rehearsals to creative singing & rhythm workshops to our fun section nights. It all culminates with a spectacular side-by-side musical sharing for family and friends, showcasing the 3-days of hard work and progress.
We can’t wait for this gathering of over 200 teenage musicians to get started!
