A huge extravaganza of teenage music-making takes over Liverpool this week from 13th to 21st of February. Kick-started last year, NYO Inspire Ensembles will return to the University of Liverpool and has grown dramatically over twice its size this time around.
Over the course of 9 days, we’ll welcome 280 young musicians from every corner of the country, connecting with over 40 different music hubs and organisations. These musicians will come together to explore ensemble playing and challenging orchestral repertoire, learning a total of 21 pieces that include Haydn to current NYO Composer Freya Ireland.
Divided into orchestral sections, each Inspire Ensemble will be a 3-day residency, where NYO Musicians will peer lead NYO Inspire Musicians with the guidance of our Tutors. Each residency will be packed with a wide range of musical and social activities, and culminates with a side-by-side musical sharing for family and friends, showcasing the 3-days of hard work and musical growth.
Also joining the NYO family will be University of Liverpool students, who will be helping out as runners, and NYO alumni, who will be sharing their skills and knowledge as NYO Music Leaders.
And to get everyone ready for all this music-making, NYO horn player Estella Browne shares some crucial advice!
