Each year the NYO must raise around £1.2 million in order to fund its core Orchestral and Education & Outreach programmes. This funding is essential in order for the NYO to remain a unique bedrock of cultural opportunity for talented young musicians from around the UK. Corporate sponsorship, in-kind support and corporate charitable donations are key sources of revenue for the Orchestra. Through a partnership with the NYO companies are associating themselves with youth, education, talent and the pursuit of excellence. Corporate

donations Tax-efficient support is an incentive for corporate donors and sponsors to support the NYO, thanks to Inland Revenue rules, under which the value of giving to charity has increased hugely compared with other business costs. Companies may be eligible to deduct donations from corporation tax computations as a charge, effectively increasing the value of their gift by up to 30%. Companies may also get corporation tax and capital gains relief for gifts of shares, certain securities and investments to the NYO. Sponsorship payments may also qualify for tax relief, with payments being deducted from trading profits for corporation tax purposes. See http://www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/charities/
