SUPPORTING THE NYO
Individual Giving

The NYO relies on Individual Donors to support core activities and our Education and Outreach programme. Our Donors enjoy a close association with the Orchestra and are kept in regular contact so that they are the first to hear of new developments, successes and our future plans. There are a variety of ways that our Individual Donors support the NYO, and we constantly welcome new initiatives as to how you would like to help the Orchestra and develop a partnership with us.

Friends of NYO
By subscribing to Friends of NYO, you may wish to send your annual donation purely as a gesture of support; however, as a way of thanking you, we naturally want to offer you something in return. As a Friend, you can enjoy the following privileges:

Friends £30 NYO newsletters, advance notice of concerts, opportunity to attend rehearsals on concert days, special booking offers

Silver Friend £100 All above, plus named credit in programmes, chance to attend NYO courses and meet the Orchestra

Gold Friend £250 All above, plus invitation to annual NYO Composers’ Concert, invitation to special reception at BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall

Platinum Friend £500  All of the above plus an exclusive invitation to the annual Leader’s Recital.

Chair Support
Through Chair Support, you can sponsor a particular member in the orchestra (perhaps a young person from a particular locality of interest to you or a player of a favoured instrument).  There are three levels of giving (£1,500 per member, £2,000 per section Principal and £5,000 for the Leader) and in return donors receive accreditation in all our Donor Lists, reports regarding their nominated player, invitations to special events (such as our NYO pre-concert receptions and all appropriate NYO literature.

The Chairman’s Circle
Our Chairman, Alan Rusbridger, Editor of The Guardian, has recently established a circle of Individual Supporters who hold the NYO dear to their hearts. We are looking to create a group of Founder Patrons to endow this scheme. The relationship that our Patrons will develop with the NYO is that of regular personal contact and the opportunity to be really involved with all aspects of the Orchestra. Along with receiving all NYO publications, there is a personal concert ticket booking service, and you will receive invitations to Receptions and Chairman’s events. We ask for a minimum donation of £5,000 from a Founder Patron.

A Gift of a Lifetime

You may like to consider including the NYO in your Will thereby. It is a fabulous way to support the organisation, as not only will you be involved with the Orchestra during your lifetime but you will also be enabling us to fulfil our vision for NYO’s future development.

If you are planning either to draw up your Will, or to add a bequest to the NYO in your existing Will, a solicitor will give the best advice for the necessary legal procedures. Simply contact any Law practice and they will give you details of the right person to speak to. The advice that NYO is able to offer is about how your bequest may be used and the different types of bequest that we are able to accept. All charitable bequests are tax-free.

We prefer to receive pecuniary and residuary bequests. The first is a set sum of money and the latter the remainder, or a proportion of the remainder, of your estate after debts and legacies have been paid. A bequest can easily be added, by your solicitor, to your existing Will as a gift to be left to The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, registered charity 290598, 32 Old School House, Britannia Road, Bristol BS15 8DB, in furtherance of its charitable objects.

Your next step
Leaflets and fact sheets are available on all these methods of giving, and before you make your extremely important decision to support the NYO as an Individual Donor, please contact Amelia Clarke at a.clarke@nyo.org.uk for further information or to arrange a confidential discussion.

As a registered charity, we encourage all our Donors to complete our Gift Aid Declaration Form, so that we can reclaim tax already paid on a gift, increasing your donation by a quarter.
